POLYMER AND HIGH DENSITY FOAM ABSORBERS (STRUCTURAL)

Reflexxion uses top quality OE High Density Foam material for its energy absorbers for safety purposes. A true alternative part in every sense of the word. These High Density Foam absorbers are placed between the bumper cover and reinforcement bars to help absorb impact in the event of a frontal or rear crash. By absorbing the impact, it will help minimize injury to the occupants and lessen damage to the vehicle, saving money in repairs.

FEATURE BENEFITS

In quasi-static load cell tests on the 1998-1999 Nissan Altima front bumper absorber, conducted by MGA Research Corporation, Reflexxion Diamond Standard Brand high energy absorbers were tested versus OE. (TEST SUMMARY 1)

In FMVSS 302 flammability tests on the 2002-2005 Toyota Camry front bumper absorber, conducted by MGA Research Corporation, Reflexxion Diamond Standard Brand high density absorbers were tested versus OE and aftermarket parts from a leading supplier.

In the FMVSS 302 test, Diamond Standard Brand absorbers produced a burn rate 50% lower than the acceptable burn rate of the federal standard and at a level of non-flammability protection equal to OE. The aftermarket absorber failed to meet the federal standard and OE performance, creating a potential fire hazard. (TEST SUMMARY 2)

  • OE high density HI-PP polypropylene

  • Tested versus the OE in quasi-static load cell and FMVSS 302 flammability tests

  • Dual check fixture tested for shape and fit against bumper and reinforcements

  • Test results are validated by 3rd party crashworthiness experts and reports are available upon request.

TEST SUMMARY

The purpose of this test is to determine the level of crashworthiness, damageability, and load carrying capability that the front bumper provides by comparing both a force and energy performance criterion of OE versus Diamond Standard Brand / PBSI front bumpers.

The bumpers were mounted with the brackets that would be used on the vehicle to a rigid test fixturer. A 14 inch diameter rigid pole section was attached to a hydraulic cylinder and the pole section was loaded into the bumper at a rate of 10 inches per minute. A load cell was attached to the pole. Deflections and loads along the loading plane are provided against 4 OE and 2 Diamond Standard Brand steel front bumpers.

The charts compare the force corridor obtained for the OE front bumpers versus Diamond Standard Brand front bumpers and the energy force. Using the OE part as the standard, Diamond Standard Brand steel front bumpers performed at crashworthyness and/or damageability level at least equal to OE steel front bumpers in a collision.
