FULL ASSEMBLY STEPBUMPERS

Reflexxion stepbumper bars and assembly systems are available for replacement of rear bumpers that have been damaged or otherwise need replacing. Depending on the application chosen, Diamond Standard Brand stepbumper full assembly models include the face bar, hitch pull bar, top and face pads, mounting brackets, support braces and connecting parts, license lamps and full bolt assembly packets necessary for a full replacement. Delivered as a full assembly ready to mount will reduce R&R labor time frames. Beyond the significant savings in part cost versus OE, Diamond Standard Brand full assembly step bumpers represent an average savings to the insurer of $300-$400 in labor based on installation comparisons and local labor rates for a ready to mount full assembly stepbumper vs ordering and assembling all the individual parts required with OE stepbumpers.

FEATURE BENEFITS

In quasi-static load tests conducted to the Vehicle Equipment Safety Commission (VESC) Regulation V-5 on the 1993-2007 Ford Ranger rear bumper, conducted by MGA Research Corporation, the hitch attached to the Reflexxion Diamond Standard Brand full assembly stepbumper was capable of withstanding the forces applied without causing permanent deformation of the ball platform while meeting the V-5 standard of the ball axis not departing more than 5 degrees from it’s original, nominal vertical position.

  • Read to mount versus costly OE assembly of individual parts.

  • Depending on application chosen, Diamond Standard Brand stepbumper systems include the face bar, hitch pull bar, top and face pads, mounting brackets, support braces and connecting parts, license stamps and full bolt assembly packet necessary for a full replacement.

  • Ready to mount full assemblies, versus having to assemble individual OE parts, reduces shop cycle time and part costs, and average of 34% versus OE depending on application and comparing all parts necessary for full assembly.

  • Text results are validated by a 3rd party crashworthiness expert and written reports are available upon request.

TEST SUMMARY

The purpose of this test using a Reflexxion Diamond Standard Brand full assembly stepbumper, was to determine per the V-5 Regulation, each hitch shall be capable of withstanding the forces applied, without causing permanent deformation of the ball platform, such that the final position of the ball axis does not depart more than 5 degrees from it’s original, nominal vertical position.

The bumpers were rigidly mounted to a test fixture using the provided mounting assemblies. The hitch rating for Class 2 is 3,500lbs. GTWR with a tongue rating of 350lbs. All test loads were applied above the minimum test loads for the class rating to the center of the ball at a rate less than 150lbs. per second, and held for a minimum of 5 seconds. The angle of the ball from vertical, relative to its original axis, was measured before and after each of the five load applications and in cumulative total movement.

Test A applies equal load forces vertically and horizontally simultaneously. Tests B and C measure the impact of attempting to pull off the ball with increased horizontal load factors while maintaining downward pressure. Tests D and E simulate and measure a sideways position of the trailer.

The ball axis movement using the Diamond Standard Brand stepbumper showed a net movement of 4 degrees, equal to and somewhat less the VESC V-5 standard of 5 degrees allowable.
