Chapter 746 Trade Practices/ Sections 746.287 - 746.292 Disclosure, Consent, Equal in Quality to OEM Parts, and Certification Repair shop must disclose to the customer that the estimate was prepared based on the use of an aftermarket crash part and that the use of the part may invalidate any remaining warranties of the OEM part. A copy of the aftermarket part warranty will be provided with the estimate. Without the consent of the owner of the vehicle, an insurer may not require, directly or indirectly, that an auto body repair shop supply or install any aftermarket part unless the part has been certified by an independent test facility to be at least equivalent to the part being replaced.
